Booktrust has announced the second round of authors appearing at this year’s Young Adult Literature Convention (YALC), including Darren Shan, Sally Green and Kevin Brooks.
Booktrust announced the names of 13 new authors taking part at a London Book Fair seminar entitled YALC: Ten Things We Learned about Reaching Teen Readers. Other authors who will speak at the conference include James Dawson, shortlisted for the YA Book Prize 2015 for Say Her Name (Hot Key Book), Samantha Shannon, writer of The Bone Season (Bloomsbury), and author and editor Amy Alward.
Also appearing are Clare Furniss, Dawn Kurtagich, Helena Coggan, Holly Bourne, Laura Dockrill, Moira Young and Melinda Salisbury.
YALC will take place for the second time this year at the London Film and Comic Con, which this year runs from 17-19 July at Olympia, London.
Run by Booktrust in partnership with Showmasters, the programme, will include author events, hands-on workshop sessions, drop-in activities and book-signing sessions.
Booktrust announced the first round of authors in March, including Malorie Blackman, Patrick Ness and Charlie Higson. Blackman said at the time: “I am so delighted that YALC is back for a second year. Last year’s inaugural event had something for every story lover, and this year’s YALC promises to be bigger, bolder and even better than before.”
