New versions of Alice to go on sale

<p>Two new versions of the original text of Lewis Carroll&#39;s classic children&#39;s story <em>Alice&#39;s Adventures in Wonderland</em> go on sale today (1st December).</p><p>The British Library, in partnership with the Folio Society, is to release two versions of a facsimile edition of Carroll&#39;s original manuscript, which was titled <em>Alice&#39;s Adventures Underground</em>. It contains Carroll&#39;s original illustrations, and will include commentary by literary manuscripts expert Sally Brown on the revision and expansion of the original story into the version known today, including the addition of illustrations by Punch cartoonist John Tenniel.<br /><br />The British Library&rsquo;s &pound;20 version will be available exclusively from the British Library shop and website until the end of February, before being distributed in bookshops from 1st March.<br /><br />The Folio Society&rsquo;s limited-edition version is bound in goatskin leather, with gold blocked on the front cover and gilded page edges, and is presented in a box blocked in gold with a photograph of Alice Liddell taken by Lewis Carroll. It will be available from the BL shop and website, and Folio Society website, priced &pound;79.95.<br /><br /></p>
