Waterstone's has appointed a new supply chain director. Tim Owrid will join the retailer on 10th May and will report to managing director Dominic Myers. The position was last held by Simon Blacklock, who left at the end of 2007. Rob Entwistle, Waterstone's head of distribution, and the supply chain team will report to Owrid.
Owrid has run his own consultancy business since 2009. Before that he was supply chain director for wholesaler Entertainment UK, which supplied Tesco and Sainsbury's. He previously worked at Woolworths as supply chain director as well at companies including Homebase, Selfridges and House of Fraser.
Myers said: "Tim's considerable specialist experience and general business knowledge will be invaluable to the senior team and to driving productivity and efficiency gains at the hub. With Rob's support, Tim will also begin to work much more closely with suppliers and distributors to improve service and fulfilment into the hub and to realise the potential mutual benefits that this will bring."
