Picador is to produce a new summer paperback edition of Jessie Burton’s The Miniaturist for publication on 16th July. The first paperback version was published in January.
The July edition will be the second special edition for the book, following the Waterstones hardback last year, and will sport the novel's fourth UK cover.
Francesca Main, editorial director at Picador, said: “It has been thrilling to see this sensational debut become a sensation itself, thanks to collaborative efforts across the company and of course the fantastic support and enthusiasm from booksellers around the country. We are delighted to be publishing a summer edition of The Miniaturist in paperback, in order to provide an additional opportunity for booksellers to continue to press this fabulous novel into the hands of readers.”
James Annal, art director, said: “The new edition cover tries to utilise all the key elements from Katie Tooke’s very successful, original cover - but it uses a blue background to both display a selection of impressive review quotes and in doing so, allows the image to be more miniature.”
Picador said that combined UK sales for The Miniaturist have passed the half a million mark. Nielsen BookScan figures show the book has sold 349,128 copies across all editions.
The Miniaturist has won a number of awards, including Waterstones Book of the Year 2014, New Writer of the Year at the National Book Awards 2014 and the overall Specsavers Book of the Year 2014.
The book has been sold in 35 territories by agent Juliet Mushens of The Agency Group.
