The Folio Society's managing director Robert Preece is to move to take up the newly created role of deputy chairman, while marketing director Toby Hartwell [pictured] moves to become m.d.
The moves are said to follow on from the success of this year's "bold" new business strategy, culminating in a high-profile pre-Christmas marketing and advertising campaign.
The strategy has seen the extension of the traditional Folio Society membership model to include single book sales to customers, while the Christmas campaign—"Rekindle your love of Beautiful Books"—is focusing on the enjoyment of a quality reading experience.
Hartwell joined The Folio Society in 2010, having held international marketing positions at United Distillers and Seagram, as well as being global marketing director at The Associated Press. Preece joined The Folio Society in 2001 as finance director, and was promoted to managing director in 2008. He will continue to be Folio's finance director alongside his new
role as deputy chairman.
