New Holland Publishers (NHP) is set to open an office in the US for the first time following a management buyout.
Fiona Schultz [pictured] bought the non-fiction publisher in July last year from the South African-based Times Media Group, after working at NHP m.d. for 14 years.
The company, headquartered in Sydney, publishes 120–140 new titles a year in natural history, gardens, gift and other areas.
“It has always been my dream to open an American arm and now I own it, I can fulfil that dream,” Schultz told The Bookseller Daily at Frankfurt Book Fair.
The publisher plans to publish American authors and sell books in the US after it opens an office in Los Angeles.
When asked if she enjoyed owning a publisher, Schultz said: “I did not think I could work any harder, because I worked really hard as managing director, but I love it. I love my loyal staff and I am learning to be a better publisher every day.”
