E L James is to release a new version of Fifty Shades of Grey – told from the point of view of Christian Grey.
Titled Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as told by Christian, the book will be published on June 18th – the same day as the fictional character’s birthday.
James said: “Christian is a complex character and readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past. Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story.”
Selina Walker, Arrow publisher and E L James’ UK editor, said: “Fifty Shades of Grey is a love story that has captivated a readership like no other book. I was absolutely thrilled when we heard that Erika wanted to write Christian’s side of the story. Grey is just as addictive as the trilogy, and I know that this is what the fans have been waiting for.
Susan Sandon, m.d. of Cornerstone, said: “Planning for publication on June 18th in all our territories has been challenging - but what a fabulous challenge to have. Thanks to superb teamwork and meticulous planning, I know that fans around the world will be able to help mark Christian's birthday by reading his side of the story.”
The three Fifty Shades of Grey books have sold a total of 11,213,227 copies through Nielsen BookScan in the UK to date, for a total value of £50,163,582.38.
The book will be published in the UK as a paperback original and as an e-book by Arrow, an imprint of Cornerstone. The US will publish simultaneously.
