US-based company Foxit Software is planning to launch an eBook device that will retail for almost half the cost of Sony's eReader, PC World has reported.
The eSlick, which is due out in America in January, is priced at $229, undercutting both the eReader, which retails at $399 and Amazon's Kindle device, which costs $359.
This latest device to join the market will be available in black, gray, or white, and have 128MB of internal memory. Its 6-inch, 600-by-800-pixel "electronic paper" screen is made by the same company that makes the Kindle screen.
However, PC World said the initial version would not have wireless connectivity.
