Sabrina Ghayour, author of Persiana (Mitchell Beazley), is to publish a new cookbook next year.
Sirocco: Fabulous Flavours from the East will "bring tastes of the East to Western-style dishes" in a collection of 100 recipes.
Mitchell Beazley, part of Octopus Publishing Group, said: “With an emphasis on simple ingredients and strong flavours, Ghayour will bring her modern inspirational touch to a variety of dishes ranging from classics and comfort food to spectacular salads and sweet treats.”
Stephanie Jackson, publishing director at Octopus Publishing Group, acquired world all languages rights to Sirocco from Martine Carter at Sauce Management.
Jackson said: "Like the ‘sirocco’ wind that blows from the East to the West, Sabrina Ghayour’s brilliant sequel to the extraordinary Persiana takes her signature flavours and ingredients to a new place in what we believe will become a new cookery classic for 2016 and beyond. The blaze of high-profile activity in the run-up to Sirocco’s launch will make this a landmark publishing event."
Ghayour said: “I have learned so much about the way people cook in their own homes and also realised that my style, as a home cook, was one of the key strengths of Persiana. It showed people there were no strict rules to those recipes which gave the user a kind of freedom and confidence in recreating them in their own home without fear of failure.
“Taking all of this on board, Sirocco felt like a natural progression in exploring the flavours made familiar in Persiana but showing people the versatility and multitude of ways in which you can use a handful of cupboard staples to create a myriad of dishes which combine some of the same ingredients with various fresh produce but create completely different results and flavour combinations each time.”
Sirocco will be published in May 2016 in £25 hardback. The book's cover will be revealed at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
