Writer and translator Mikka Haugaard is turning her ‘Everything With Words’ initiative into a publishing business, with a substantial amount of the profits going to street children.
Haugaard set up Everything With Words two years ago to bring authors into schools. However, from April next year she will publish books for readers age 7+ to raise money for charities that help street children worldwide.
The first four titles scheduled for publication are a troll story called Once In A Blue Moon by Miranda Twist (for readers aged 6+), fantasy comedy Maxim’s All Night Diner by Mikka Haugaard (7-9), fantasy adventure Dylan and the Deadly Dimension by Mark Bardwell (9-12) and the YA novel We Other by Sue Bentley. All the authors are paid and will receive standard royalties.
Haugaard, who holds world rights for all titles, is also seeking new submissions that have a “fresh and original narrative” and any authors wanting to get in touch can contact her via the email address info@everythingwithwords.com.
She said: “In my experience children love language. Everything with Words is for imaginative readers who love to get lost in a world of words, funny words, unusual words, words that sound good and that haunt you after you have closed the book.”
Titles from Everything With Words will be distributed by Central Books.
