New award for University Press publishing

New award for University Press publishing

A new award is being launched to recognise an individual, team or press that has made an outstanding contribution to University Press publishing.

The inaugural award will be made at the upcoming University Press Redux conference hosted by UCL Press and the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) in London in February.

The University Press Redux Award will recognise an outstanding contribution through innovation, providing inspiration and visibility for the sector as a whole, or challenging university presses to rethink or evolve their practice.

Nominations are invited, with nominators encouraged to consider all aspects of university press publishing and to consider colleagues at all career stages. Nominations with just 100 words of supporting text should be emailed to Lara Speicher at The closing date for nominations is Friday 19th January.

A shortlist of four will be formed from those most frequently nominated, and conference delegates will be invited to vote by email to select the inaugural recipient, a move intended to "democratically reflect the views of the university press community."

The award winner will be announced at the close of the first day of the conference (Tuesday 13th February).

The second University Press Redux conference takes place between 13th-14th February at the British Library Conference Centre. The inaugural event was held in Liverpool in 2016, organised by Liverpool University Press.
