James Long, editorial director for digital at Pan Macmillan, is moving to the newly created role of analytics director.
Long joins Anna Bond's newly restructured sales team and will focus on sales analytics "to drive insights and improved use of quantitative data to inform sales and acquisition processes across all of the Pan Macmillan divisions", the publisher said.
Long's previous role, in which he managed Pan Mac's e-book operations and led on digital product innovation, will not be directly replaced; instead the publisher said it would look at its editorial team structure and how digital responsibility is integrated within that.
Bond said: "Analytics and the understanding of retailer and other sales data are critical to our ability to continue to publish the books that readers want and to sell increasing numbers of them."
