Simon & Schuster has signed two more books from YA author Sarah Alderson, also announcing that her debut novel, Hunting Lila, is to be made into an international feature film.
The publisher has snapped up two stand-alone YA novels from Alderson, the first, called The Sound, is about an aspiring music journalist who begins hanging out with a group of party-loving kids “hiding some dark secrets” and lands up in trouble with a serial killer. It is to be published in August 2013. The second, Control, is told over a 24-hour period and follows the story of Liva who has witnessed a brutal murder and ends up being chased by the perpetrators, to be published in 2014.
S&S editorial director Venetia Gosling acquired world rights to the books from Amanda Preston at Luigi Bonomi Associates.
Gosling said: “I’m delighted to have signed up two gripping new YA novels from the very talented Sarah Alderson—a really exciting and versatile author, whose writing just goes from strength to strength.”
S&S also published Alderson’s debut and second novels, Hunting Lila (August 2011) and Losing Lila (August 2012), with the former to be made into a feature film to be distributed internationally. Film producers Jessica Malik and Jessica Parker of Pari-Passu Films have optioned the film rights to both books.
