W H Smith’s book director Michael Neil will be leaving the business at the end of May.
Neil joined W H Smith at the beginning of 2014 as its business unit director for books.
In this role, he has been responsible for the full books and e-books offer at WH Smith High Street and has delivered a number of customer focused initiatives, the company said.
Phil McNally, commercial director of W H Smith High Street, said: “Since Michael joined us at the beginning of last year he has been instrumental in successfully developing a number of key initiatives around our store offer, our range quality, and our relationship with publishers. He has also worked with some partners such as the Telegraph and Richard and Judy in developing new and exciting promotional campaigns. We will miss his experience and wish him all the best in the future.”
Neil added: “I have hugely enjoyed my time at WH Smith. It is a wonderful and hugely successful bookseller with an amazing team of people very focused on delivering the best for its customers and I wish everyone enormous continued success.”
Prior to his role at W H Smith, Neil was commercial director at HMV and Waterstones and he led Bertrams wholesaler.
