Quercus' Rachel Neely joins Trapeze

Rachel Neely is joining Trapeze as commissioning editor after three and a half years at Quercus.

Neely, previously an assistant editor at Quercus, will be working alongside publishing director Sam Eades to drive fiction growth at Trapeze Books, and curate her own list of books that "tap into the zeitgeist and start conversations".

At Quercus, Neely commissioned Kindle bestseller Karen Cole, Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick Still Lives and debut authors Emily Freud and Lisa Bradley, whose first novels will be released later this year, as well as assisting on major titles such as J P Delaney’s The Girl Before and Beth O’Leary’s The Flatshare.

Eades said: "Rachel is hugely impressive, with an entrepreneurial spirit, keen market awareness and inspiring creative spark. I can’t wait for her to bring new talent to the list, and work closely with me and our exciting growth plans for the imprint."

Neely said: "I’m so grateful to Quercus and my wonderful colleagues there for all that I learned from them and for the opportunity to work with some incredible authors, but the exciting offer to join Sam and Anna in shaping the Trapeze fiction list was impossible to resist! I’ve greatly admired the Trapeze list and spirit since its inception in 2016, and I’m excited to start commissioning a diverse range of conversation-starting fiction, as well as working with their existing stable of hugely talented authors."

Neely will repor Eades and will join Trapeze on 18th May.
