National Book Tokens launch £225,000 giveaway for Independent Bookshop Week

National Book Tokens will celebrate Independent Bookshop Week with a £225,000 giveaway. 

Participating bookshops across the UK and Ireland will be given the opportunity to give away £5/€5 National Book Tokens eGift cards to their customers, with up to £225,000 being gifted over the week of the campaign from 15th to 22nd June. 

Lisa Bywater, National Book Tokens’ Marketing Manager, said: “High Five for Bookshops is a massive thank you to independent bookshops, and to their loyal, local customers. We hope bookshops will find it a really simple way to engage customers with the Independent Bookshop Week celebrations, and because the lucky recipients can spend the money back in their local bookshop, the giveaway will continue to drive footfall into the summer months.”

The High Five for Bookshops giveaway gives bookshops a simple mechanic to help them promote Independent Bookshop Week. Booksellers are encouraged to use the free gift in the way that suits them and their most loyal customers – whether this is rewarding regulars or giving event attendees something extra.

Each bookshop participating in Independent Bookshop Week will be sent 100 leaflets with unique codes, which customers simply enter online to claim their free £5/€5 National Book Tokens eGift card.

eGift cards are downloadable gift cards sent by email; just like physical National Book Tokens gift cards, they can be spent in bookshops everywhere. The bookshop with the most customer downloads will win a bumper hamper of bubbly to help their next event go with a bang, said organisers.
