A Beautiful Mind author Sylvia Nasar and author of Sophie's World, Jostein Gaarder, are among the writers appearing at this year's Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.
The fair runs from 15-20th March at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The fair's market focus will be on the Korean book industry with the cultural focus falling on France. The winner of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction will be announced on 14th March, the eve of the fair.
As well as more than 500,000 titles on display, other highlights on the programme include discussions about book piracy in the Arabic world and on blogging in the Middle East.
Monika Krauss, general manager of Kitab, organisers of the fair, said: "The presence of such internationally recognised figures as the Saudi Arabian novelist Raja'a Alem and the South African poet and author Breyten Breytenbach gives the tone for this year's event, where the wide and wonderful world of books will be open to the public."
