Independent publisher Myrmidon has bought world English language rights (excluding South Africa) to a novel shortlisted for the 2010 Commonwealth Writers Prize.
Ed Handyside, publisher and founder, bought the rights to Trespass by Dawn Garish from Kwela Books for an undisclosed sum. Published in 2009, the book was shortlisted for the best Africa region book for the Commonwealth Writers Prize.
A publication date has yet to be confirmed.
The book is about a matron in a South African boarding school who harbours a secret from her teenage years.
Myrmidon published Once, Two Islands, Dawn Garish's debut in 2008. Handyside said: "Dawn Garisch's writing just gets better and better. Trespass is a very powerful and disturbing novel."
