Author Julie Myerson has apologised to her publisher Bloomsbury after telling the company that she was not the anonymous author of a column in the Guardian called "Living with teenagers". She has since admitted that she was the author.
Colin Midson, the acting publicity director of Bloomsbury, had earlier emphatically denied she was the author of the column to the Telegraph's Mandrake. After the truth was revealed, according to the Telegraph, Myerson apologised to the publisher.
Midson tells the newspaper: "When I told you that Julie was not the author of the column, I did so in good faith, as that is what I had been told by her. Julie has since explained her reasons for having denied her authorship – her desire to protect the identity of her family... She has apologised to me for any embarrassment it may have caused."
