Morrissey’s first novel will be called List of the Lost and published by Penguin Books this September, according to reports.
Morrissey’s fan site True to You has reported that the book will be a paperback and that it will be published in the UK, Ireland, Australia, India, New Zealand and South Africa at the end of September.
However, no plot details have been revealed and Penguin Books has not responded to press enquiries from The Bookseller to confirm the news.
In January last year, Morrissey confirmed he was writing a novel in a question and answer session on the True To You fan forum.
He said: “In 2013, I published my Autobiography and it has been more successful than any record I have ever released, so, yes, I am mid-way through my novel. I have my hopes.”
The novel would be released almost two years after Morrissey’s bestselling Autobiography, which was published in October 2013. It was one of the fast-selling memoirs since records began and has sold 196,457 copies to date through Nielsen Bookscan.
