Hodder & Stoughton has acquired an eighth title in the Dark Tower series by Stephen King, which has Roland Deschain of Gilead as its lead character.
The Wind Through the Keyhole will be published worldwide in spring 2012.
King said he decided to return to the series, which he ostensibly completed eight years ago, when he "started thinking and dreaming about Mid-World again". He said: "There was a storm, I decided. One of sudden and vicious intensity . . . I saw just enough to want to see the rest."
King's UK editor Philippa Pride bought UK and Commonwealth rights to the book through Chuck Verill at Darhansoff & Verrill in New York. She said: "For those of us who are hooked on the bestselling fantasy/adventure series already, it is a wonderful reunion! For readers who have yet to embark, it is a delightful way into the series as the novel stands perfectly alone—a story within a story—and features both the older Roland and the younger."
Hodder is launching rejacketed paperbacks of the entire series alongside the new title as part of the major King reissue programme.
