Michael Joseph has signed three new thrillers by MJ Arlidge.
Publishing director Rowland White acquired world rights for the books from Hellie Ogden of Janklow and Nesbit UK.
The thrillers will all feature Arlidge’s character Detective Inspector Helen Grace.
The first, Hide and Seek, will be published in hardback in autumn 2016 and followed by Follow My Leader and My Little Eye in 2017.
Little Boy Blue, from Arldige’s previous deal with Michael Joseph, will be published next spring.
The first Helen Grace novel by Arlidge, whose real name is Matt, was 2014’s Eeny Meeny.
White said: "I’m hugely excited about this new deal. Such has been the enormous success of the Helen Grace series it’s easy to forget that the first MJ Arlidge was only published last year. Now sales in the UK across all formats of are approaching half a million books. I’m in awe of Matt’s talent, vision and drive. And with titles and plots for the next four books, starting with Little Boy Blue published in hardback next spring, already mapped out we have an opportunity that is almost unique in publishing. The sky is the limit."
Arlidge said: "I'm thrilled to have been asked to create a new chapter in the Helen Grace story. Her crime fighting exploits have excited readers the world over and I know she has a special place in many people’s hearts - not least my own. I am delighted that I will get to spend a lot more time with her over the coming years."
