Booksellers have warned there is no room for a repeat of last year's Yodel pre-Christmas delivery problems in the face of steep competition from Amazon on next-day delivery.
Yodel, formerly DHL, came under fire for late deliveries to independent booksellers last year.
Bertrams, which uses Yodel, is offering booksellers the opportunity for a CityLink next-day delivery if they file orders before 3. p.m.
The news is welcome to David Dawkins of Pages of Hackney, who said Yodel deliveries were "a nightmare" and the shop had had to warn customers deliveries would take one to three days. However, Peter Donaldson from The Red Lion bookshop said his deliveries had been fine so far.
