Mitchell Beazley is publishing a guide to Italy’s best drinks and dishes for the "aperitif hour", Aperitivo: Drinks and Snacks for the Dolce Vita, by Kay Plunkett-Hogge.
Alison Starling, publisher at Octopus Publishing Group, acquired world rights all languages direct from the author, to publish on 6th July 2017 at £15.99.
The book will bring together 80 recipes from across Italy and tell the stories behind them. The book opens with the aperitivi themselves, with recipes for classic Italian cocktails and a guide to Italian wine, then will introduce simple recipes for: antipasto and pinzimonio; tramezzini; bruschette and crostini; seafood; meat and fowl; vegetables, dairy and eggs; bread and baking; and dolci.
Plunkett-Hogge has worked as a writer and food consultant, notably with the team behind the Leon restaurants. She is co-author of Leon: Family & Friends (Octopus) and the author of cocktail book, Make Mine a Martini (Octopus) and its companion A Sherry & A Little Plate of Tapas (Octopus) published August last year. Her latest book, Adventures of A Terribly Greedy Girl (Octopus), a memoir with recipes, came out in February 2017.
Starling said: "With her deliciously simple recipes and beautifully evocative writing style, Kay Plunkett-Hogge is the perfect author for a book that explores this most civilized of Italian traditions – now the hottest trend in bars all over Europe. And any book that offers not one but four Negroni recipes is something to celebrate."
Plunkett-Hogge said: "As you can imagine, it was incredibly hard work researching this book — all that trying on Dolce & Gabbana and drinking Campari. Still, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, and I am delighted that Octopus have, once again, decided to publish the results of my efforts."
