Mitchell Beazley has acquired the first home decorating book by Chrissie Rucker and her retail firm The White Company.
Octopus publisher Alison Starling acquired world rights direct from the company, founded by Rucker in 1994. For the Love of White: The White & Neutral Home will be published on 5th September 2019.
The book explores 12 inspirational homes, features styling ideas from Rucker and includes photography by leading interiors photographer Chris Everard. The synopsis states: “Whether you live in a compact city apartment, a rambling country cottage or an elegant town house, For the Love of White offers the definitive guide to creating a home with white and neutral tones.”
Rucker started The White Company when she was unable to find well-designed, affordable white bed linens and invested £6,000 to produce them herself. What started as a small 12-page mail-order brochure became one of the UK's fastest-growing retailers. There are now 65 stores, including its first international flagship store at Fifth Avenue in New York and a European store on Dublin's Grafton Street.
Starling said: “Octopus prides itself on creating books with smart, creative British brands be it Farrow & Ball, Leon or British Vogue. It has long been an ambition to work with the hugely inspirational Chrissie Rucker and The White Company and we are particularly proud to be publishing their first home decorating book as the brand turns 25. Chrissie, her chief creative officer Mark Winstanley and their team have been a complete joy to work with and the book looks set to be a creative and commercial success.”
Rucker added: “As we arrive at The White Company’s 25th birthday, we thought we would celebrate it by sharing some of our favourite white and neutral homes we’ve discovered over the years. Together with lots of simple, clever styling tips that make a house a home. I cannot thank Mitchell Beazley, Octopus and my team at The White Company enough for helping to bring this special project to life.”
