Minister's PLR solution fuels fresh controversy

Danish Culture and Sport Minister Brian Mikkelsen has caused new outrage by proposing a solution to a cut in the public lending right that has incensed authors.</p><p>
By raising the minimum PLR payout to DKr5,000 (&#163;415) from DKr25 (&#163;2), Mikkelsen redistributed DKr16m (&#163;1.33m) of PLR funds while maintaining the 15% cut settled on earlier this year.</p><p>
As a result, between 10,000 and 13,000 of the 18,661 writers, translators, illustrators and others who received a total of almost DKr154m (&#163;12.78m) in PLR payments last year will get...
