Milnes-Smith steps up at LAW

<p>Philippa Milnes-Smith, former Puffin m.d., has been appointed managing director of the literary agency LAW.

Milnes-Smith takes over from Araminta Whitley, who founded the company in 1996 along with Julian Alexander and Mark Lucas. Whitley will continue to play an active role in the company, both as agent and director.

Milnes-Smith joined LAW in November 2001 as a director, specialising in children's publishing and media.

LAW has recently represented The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella, Rules of Engagement by Tim Collins and The Edge Chronicles by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell.
