Bloomsbury publicity director Colin Midson is joining Simon & Schuster as a commissioning editor in the non-fiction department.
Midson joins in January 2010 and will work alongside Kerri Sharp, who has been promoted to senior commissioning editor of non-fiction.
In an email to staff, Mike Jones, editorial director for non-fiction, said: "I know that with his wide-ranging tastes and interests and his dynamism and personality, Colin will be a terrific addition to our wonderful non-fiction team."
During his time at Bloomsbury, Midson worked on campaigns for the likes of Kate Summerscale, William Boyd, John Irving, Douglas Coupland and Nadine Gordimer.
Sharp, whose role Midson takes on, has worked on titles such as An Ordinary Soldier, Daddy’s Prisoner and Child C, as well as the Secret titles and the What to Expect series. Jones said of
her promotion: "She has many exciting and commercial titles in the pipeline and plays an invaluable role in the department."
Meanwhile, Sue Stephens has been appointed to senior publicity manager. She was previously publicity manager at Simon & Schuster and her authors include Sandra Howard, Doug Beattie and Michael Dobbs.
