Emma Straub is moving from Picador to Penguin Random House’s Michael Joseph for her next two novels.
Editorial director Jessica Leeke bought UK and Commonwealth rights to the two novels from Cathryn Summerhayes at WME on behalf of Claudia Ballard.
Leeke said: “I have long been a fan of Emma’s fiction which serves as the best kind of entertainment: warm yet wry, witty yet big-hearted, whip-smart for today’s reader. Above all things she makes us laugh, properly laugh, from the belly and the heart.”
Straub’s most recent novel was The Vacationers, released by Picador in June this year. It has sold 3,347 copies through Nielsen BookScan.
Straub said: “Michael Joseph has shown an amazing amount of passion for my work already, and the ink isn't even dry.”
Straub’s first novel with Michael Joseph, as yet untitled, will be published in 2017.
