Michael Joseph has signed three novels from crime writer James Oswald.
Alex Clarke, publishing director at Michael Joseph, did the deal with Juliet Mushens of The Agency Group.
The Penguin division has already published two books in Oswald's Inspector McLean series, Natural Causes and The Book of Souls. The third novel in the series, The Hangman's Song, is scheduled for publication in February 2014, while the new deal will see one book published in July 2014, and two more in 2015
When not writing, Oswald works as a farmer in Scotland. Clarke said: "James is the perfect author—he delivers incredibly compelling and exciting novels, he works tirelessly at the publicity and promotion of his books, and he drives a very big tractor."
