A memorial service for Doris Lessing will be held at St Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square at 3 p.m. on Monday 7th April.
The service will be open to everyone, from fans to literary peers and colleagues.
Charlie Redmayne, c.e.o. of HarperCollins UK, which published Lessing's novels, said: “Doris Lessing was a one of the great writers of our age. She was a compelling storyteller with a fierce intellect and a warm heart who was not afraid to fight for what she believed in.”
The memorial will feature a collection in Lessing’s memory, with proceeds going to Booktrust and the Africa Book Development Organisation.
