Memoir sales surge in post-Covid market

Nielsen BookScan’s Biographies & Autobiographies category had a fairly bumpy start to the year, diving 10% in volume against the same period in 2019, despite the dramatic surge in sales for Jack Fairweather’s Costa Book Award winner The Volunteer (W H Allen). However, across lockdown, Adam Kay’s million-copy-bestseller This is Going to Hurt (Picador) soared back into the Paperback Non-Fiction number one spot.
