McCombie signs two-book deal with Nosy Crow

Nosy Crow has bought world rights to two middle-grade novels by children’s author Karen McCombie.

The books will follow the fortunes of crofter’s daughter, Brìdie McKerrie, from her remote Scottish island home during the time of the Highland Clearances -which involved the forced displacement during the 18th and 19th centuries of a significant number of people from traditional land tenancies in the Scottish Highlands -via the teeming streets of Victorian Glasgow, to the American Prairies.

The books are as yet untitled but Nosy Crow, who acquired the rights from Hilary Delamere of The Agency, will publish the first book as a B-format paperback in 2017 (r.r.p. £6.99).
