MCB buys first teen title from Marianne Levy

Macmillan Children’s Books (MCB) has acquired the first teen novel by children’s author Marianne Levy.

Accidental Superstar, which will be published in the UK in January 2016, is about a schoolgirl who becomes a viral sensation when a video of her singing in her bedroom is accidentally uploaded to YouTube.

Venetia Gosling, 6+ publisher at MCB, acquired the title in a two-book deal from from Jo Unwin at the Jo Unwin Literary Agency, in association with Rogers, Coleridge & White.

"I’m really delighted to welcome Marianne to the Macmillan list," said Gosling. "I have been a huge fan of hers for a long time and knew that she would write a fantastic and witty novel for teens. Accidental Superstar is the result - a very funny, topical and aspirational read, which is hugely enjoyable and with great potential as the start of a new series."

Levy is also the author of the Ellie May young fiction series, published by Egmont.
