Writer Matt Haig will chair the judging panel for this year's Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize.
The promotion celebrates the best of contemporary British fiction by selecting eight books to highlight over the summer months.
This is the first year the prize has been sponsored, with the Jerwood Charitable Foundation pledging a total of £80,000 to the prize for 2014 and 2015, with each author selected for the prize receiving £5,000.
Alongside Haig on the judging panel will be Arifa Akbar, literary editor of The Independent; journalist Sam Jordison, who is a co-director of Galley Beggar Press; Greg Eden, online content and communities manager at Waterstones; and Julia Wharton, Jerwood Charitable Foundation trustee.
Haig said: “The great thing about the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize is its focus, not only in that it solely features British writers, but also because it reaches the parts no other prizes reach, to go and shine a torch towards great writers who - for whatever reason - may have become hidden away in the literary shadows.
"We're telling readers these writers are too good to ignore.”
Submissions for the prize, which is accepting entries from self-published authors for the first time this year, are open until March 3rd.
