Mansell signs four-book deal with Headline

<p>Headline has struck a four-book deal with <em>Sunday Times</em> bestseller Jill Mansell for a &quot;very substantial sum&quot;, negotiated between her agent Jane Judd and long-time editor Marion Donaldson. <br />The four as-yet-untitled books are being scheduled for release annually from 2011, with a hardback out approximately every February, followed by a paperback in June. Headline is due to bring out Mansell&#39;s next title <em>Take a Chance on Me</em> next February.</p><p>Donaldson, fiction publishing director at Headline, said: &quot;Not only does [Mansell] write the most engaging, warm and funny romantic novels in the marketplace, but she&#39;s also a joy to work with, and an author who has personally won the hearts of booksellers in the UK and around the world. </p><p>&quot;Headline is very proud to be continuing our long-term relationship with such a star author.&quot;</p><p>She added it was &quot;too early&quot; to have plot details for any of the new books, but said it was the publisher&#39;s plan to &quot;build aggressively on [her recent] success, making sure that Jill&#39;s loyal returning fans are joined by ever-growing numbers of new readers&quot;. </p><p>She highlighted Mansell&#39;s most recent hardback, <em>Rumour Has It</em>, which spent eight weeks in the <em>Sunday Times </em>hardback bestseller list earlier this year, and the paperback of <em>An Offer You Can&#39;t Refuse</em>, which was in the paperback charts for five weeks last summer. &quot;Sales of Jill&#39;s novels in their Headline editions around the world are now at over 4m copies,&quot; Donaldson said.</p><p>She added: &quot;Specific plans can&#39;t be put in place now, but we will be creative and focused in targeting the widest possible readership.&quot; <br />&nbsp;</p>
