Man Booker teams up with iBookstore

The Man Booker Prize for Fiction 2011 is to host an event at the Apple Store in Covent Garden, London, as it links up with the iBookstore.

Shortlisted authors Carol Birch, Patrick deWitt and A D Miller will take part in the event on 13th October. Digital samples of each of the six shortlisted titles in both book and audio format can now be downloaded from Apple’s iBookstore. A range of free podcasts produced by the prize and featuring exclusive content and interviews with shortlisted authors and judges has also been launched on iTunes.

The Man Booker app, now available on the Appstore and containing a guide to the prize since its launch in 1969, has also been updated with audio readings from the shortlisted books.

Ion Trewin, Man Booker Prizes literary director, said: “With the digital experience becoming so much a part of the world of reading, this initiative demonstrates how important we rate the ability to sample and buy this year’s shortlist in every possible format.”

The winner of the Man Booker Prize will be announced on 18th October at London’s Guildhall.
