Macgregor's debut to Sphere

Manpreet Grewal, junior commissioning editor at Sphere, has acquired an "emotional and moving" debut, What Milo Saw by Virginia Macgregor.

Grewal bought world rights in a two-book deal from Bryony Woods of Diamond Kahn & Woods Literary Agency.

What Milo Saw is the story of nine-year-old Milo, who is slowly going blind. For now, he sees the world through a pinhole, which causes him to notice things other people don't—such as that things are amiss at his grandmother's nursing home, a problem he takes it upon himself to investigate.

Calling the author "remarkably talented", Grewal said: “What Milo Saw is an emotional and moving novel about one exceptional little boy. It will be impossible for readers not to fall in love with Milo, savour his story and share it with everyone they know.”

Agent Bryony Woods called Macgregor "a rising star with incredible talent, and the power to make me both laugh and cry with the turn of a page".

Little, Brown will publish What Milo Saw in hardback and trade paperback in July 2014, with the paperback following in spring 2015.
