Iain MacGregor is joining Simon & Schuster UK as publishing director, non-fiction, leaving his current role at Aurum Press.
MacGregor, who has worked in non-fiction publishing for more than 20 years, will report in to Suzanne Baboneau, m.d. of the adult publishing division.
Baboneau said: "Iain is highly experienced in setting long-term goals for an imprint and developing new lines of acquisition, as well as overseeing the rebranding of strong publishing lines. All this will play extremely well into our desire to build on the strengths and fine reputation of our non-fiction list and to bring a fresh eye to this key area of our publishing, UK based and international."
Before joint Aurum Press, MacGregor worked at HarperCollins as publishing director of the Collins trade imprint, working with author such as Simon Schama, Michael Portilo and James Naughtie. He also led a team developing TV tie-ins, including "Downton Abbey", Brian Cox, and "Call the Midwife".
He said: "It's an irresistible opportunity and I am thrilled to be joining such a vibrant imprint." MacGregor will oversee a non-fiction commissioning team made up of Ian Marshall, Kerri Sharp, Abigail Bergstrom and Nicky Hill.
S&S's previous non-fiction publishing director Mike Jones left the role in June. He has since moved to Profile.
