Lonely Planet appoints digital head

<p>Lonely Planet has appointed its global marketing director Dominic Rowell as its new managing director of digital.</p><p>He will report to c.e.o. Matt Goldberg, who said: &quot;We are fortunate to have such a versatile and talented executive in Dominic, who will lead Lonely Planet&rsquo;s digital business into its next phase translating our amazing guides and developing new products and services across every platform travellers find useful.&quot;</p><p>Rowell joined the travel publisher in 2008, having had previous positions at Sainsbury&#39;s, Pepsi, Carphone Warehouse and McDonalds. He said: &quot;We are making progress across all aspects of our digital business and I&rsquo;m looking forward to building on the&nbsp; foundations we now have in place to deepen our connection with travellers via online services, wireless devices and through our growing community of followers.&quot;</p>
