Viking has appointed Katy Loftus as commissioning editor, where she will report to publisher Mary Mount.
Loftus, who is currently an editor at Avon Books, will take up the post on the 18th May. Viking said her “energy and experience will be a wonderful addition to the fiction editorial team and we look forward to seeing her take the list in new, exciting directions”.
In other moves at Viking, Isabel Wall has taken the job of editorial assistant. Wall has done work experience with a variety of publishers, including Penguin, and will report to publishers Mount and Venetia Butterfield.
Jillian Taylor, the current editorial assistant, is moving to Michael Joseph to become an editor.
Viking, an imprint of Penguin, publishes novelists including John le Carré, William Trevor, John Banville, Nick Hornby, Will Self, Nina Stibbe, Joshua Ferris, Hisham Matar, Naomi Alderman, Elif Shafak and William Gibson.
