Two Living Oasis branches will be closing this Saturday, making seven staff redundant.
The Christian retailer will shut up shop in Nottingham and Worthing this weekend, affecting the four staff at Nottingham and three in Worthing. The closures follow earlier announcements in March and May about the shutting of six other branches, including Edinburgh.
Nottingham branch manager Sue Barrett said of the reason behind the closure: "It is just lack of support [from customers]. People buy books online now. I think a lot of booksellers will tell you the same."
Living Oasis is the trading arm of the charity Nationwide Christian Trust, which acquired 19 shops in January 2010 from former retailer Wesley Owen Bookshops.
The Nationwide Christian Trust has been running for seven years. No spokesperson for the charity was available for comment at the time of writing.
