Little, Brown wins rights to Ensaf Haidar's memoir

Little, Brown has signed a book by Ensaf Haidar, the wife of imprisoned Saudi Arabian blogger Raif Badawi.

Richard Beswick won world English language rights, excluding America, in an auction to Raif Badawi, The Voice of Freedom: My Husband, Our Story from Barbara Zitwer at the Barbara J Zitwer Agency and Christine Proske at Ariadne Buch.

The book is a “moving account” of Haidar’s life with Badawi.

After her husband was imprisoned Haidar had to flee Saudi Arabia and has ever since been fighting for the freedom of Badawi, who is currently in jail in Saudi Arabia where he has been charged with criticising the regime's clerics and sentenced to 1,000 lashes.

Little, Brown will publish in August 2016. In Germany Lubbe will publish next month.
