Little, Brown has acquired the UK and commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, to an LGBT YA novel by Candian author Raziel Reid.
When Everything Feels Like the Movies is about a teenager, Jude, who desperately wants to be famous and confidently gay, but is ostracized by the other students at school. The author, 24-year-old Reid, was inspired in part by teenager Lawrence Fobes King, who was killed in 2008 for being gay.
Commisssioning editor Sarah Castleton acquired the rights to the book, which was published in Canada by Arsenal Pulp Press last year, from Adrian Weston at AWLA.
The book will be released in e-book this summer and in hardback and paperback next year.
When Everything Feels Like the Movies won the Canadian Governor General's Literary Award for children's literature in November, and will be published in the US in April.
