Little, Brown has confirmed it is reprinting 140,000 copies of Robert Galbraith/J K Rowling’s The Cuckoo’s Calling. The reprint will be split between hardback and C-format for export and airside.
Bookshops are expected to receive copies by the end of the week, with printer Clays working "round the clock".
In the US, publisher Mulholland Books has ordered a 300,000-copy reprint.
Little, Brown publisher David Shelley has also revealed some figures for The Cuckoo's Calling UK sales ahead of the revelation of its author's true identity.
“Prior to the Sunday Times story, sales were 1,419 print, 822 e-book, more than 2,000 export and 3,800 audio download," he told The Bookseller. "The title was number one on Audible back in May, thanks to their support, and has been in and around their top 10 since then.”
The audio download of the novel is narrated by actor Robert Glenister.
Laurence Howell, director for content at Audible.co.uk, said: “We knew immediately that The Cuckoo’s Calling would be a great fit for our customers and promote the title accordingly...We always make a concerted effort to support debut authors, making them available in audio and promoting their work to an enthusiastic audience.”
