Linlithgow Bookshop in West Lothian has been selected as the first indie to host an event for the Telegraph Book Club Tour. Man Booker nominee Paul Murray will feature on the occasion, which will be covered by the Telegraph newspaper, on a date yet to be announced.
The Telegraph Book Club Tour is sponsored by National Book Tokens and will see four unique literary events held in specially selected bookshops across the UK over the next year. Each of the four occasions will feature literary personalities, guest speakers and Telegraph journalists and the host bookshops will be heavily promoted by the Telegraph and National Book Tokens, both online and in print over the next year.
Booksellers can nominate themselves as hosts through the website www.telegraph.co.uk/bookclubtour, with over 140 booksellers already signed up.
Alex de Berry, National Book Tokens m.d., said, “The response to the Book Club Tour has been fantastic. The hundreds of comments left by readers eloquently shows why bookshops are held dear, both by their customers and the wider community. I can’t think of any other sort of retailer that would engender this response, people love bookshops.”
