Legend Press has signed Matt Wilven’s "startling and brave" debut novel The Blackbird Singularity, to be published in August 2016.
The Blackbird Singularity follows a man called Vince who stops taking lithium when he finds out his partner is pregnant. As withdrawal kicks in, he "can barely hold his life together." According to the publisher, Wilven's novel "pushes the boundaries of contemporary literary fiction" as Vince "travels through a world of chaos and darkness, completely unaware of the miracle that lies ahead."
Legend Press acquired world English language rights from David Haviland at the Andrew Lownie Literary Agency.
Lauren Parsons, commissioning editor of Legend Press, said: “I was immediately taken by Matt’s dark and engaging style. He handles mental health issues sensitively and with originality, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality. As Legend Press’s list quickly grows, we are very excited about adding such an unforgettable debut into an already dynamic schedule for 2016.”
