Legend Press acquires "stylish" debut

Legend Press has acquired a debut novel by Sheffield Hallam creative writing MA graduate Iain Broome.

Commissioning editor Lauren Parsons bought world rights in A is for Angelica, through Sophie Lambert at Tibor Jones & Associates. Legend Press plans to publish on 1st September 2012.

The book is set in a northern mining town, and features as its central character Gordon Kingdom, who is struggling with the fate of his seriously ill wife. The arrival of the enigmatic Angelica forces Gordon to make some difficult decisions, as well as embark on some cake making.

Parsons said: "We are delighted to have signed up Iain's debut—his writing is stylish, dark and compelling."

Broome is a copywriter for design company, The Workshop, and set up writers' website Write for Your Life two years ago.
