Legal leap for John Smith

<p>Liz Bury</p><p>Coutts Information Services, the UK-based bookselling and library supply group, has acquired Hammicks' legal division through its academic bookselling subsidiary John Smith&amp;Son.</p><p>The deal, which includes three legal bookshops, and a library supply and mail-order operation based at Hammicks head office in Feltham, will add &#163;12.5m to Coutts' top line. The library supply business may be relocated to Coutts' base in Ringwood, Hants, when the lease on Feltham expires in September, affecting its staff of eight.</p><p>The three book stores are to become part of the ...
