Jeff Kinney's 10th Wimpy Kid novel will be called Old School, and will be published simultaneously in more than 90 countries around the world.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Old School, will be published on 3rd November in the UK, US, Canada and Australia, as well as foreign-language markets such as Germany, Japan, Turkey and Taiwain. Puffin will publish in the UK.
The next book in the bestselling middle grade series will follow lead character Greg Heffley as he goes on a field trip to a farm, where he has to deal with the generation gap between his fellow students and their chaperones.
Children around the world were able to watch the reveal of the title and the cover this afternoon (27th April) in a live webcast from New York, which saw the author answering questions submitted by international readers. Puffin said 500,000 school children around the world had logged on to watch the broadcast.
Kinney said: "For me, the most surprising thing about Diary of a Wimpy Kid has been how kids of different cultures around the world have embraced Greg Heffley. I’m very excited that we’re able to simultaneously publish in so many languages, and I’m eager to meet as many fans as I can across the world."
Michael Jacobs, c.e.o. of Abrams, which publishes the book in the US, said that Kinney would undertake a world tour to promote the release of the book. Abrams said: "This unprecedented global release promises to be the biggest book and book event of the year, not just in North America but around the world."
